A Message from the Chairman
In recent years, the Japanese government unrolled a number of policies on digital content. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), for example, unveiled the New Economic Growth Strategy with the aim of expanding the content market by 5 trillion yen over the next 10 years. The ministry is also promoting a new series of events, International Content Festival in Japan(CoFesta).
Digital content usage is expected to grow due to a wider generation of people beginning to utilize information technology, improvements in broadband internet access and advances in digital devices that make content available anywhere at any time.
With this bright future in mind, the Digital Content Association of Japan is tackling various issues to facilitate production, distribution and usage of attractive, high-quality content welcomed by the market.
Content usage is diversifying as digital devices continue to become smaller with improved functions and performance. Software and hardware must now be viewed as a single package when examining content for its suitability in various situations.
To promote further expansion of the content-related industry, we must: 1. Expand the range and improve the quality of basic information necessary for drawing up strategies: 2. Implement comprehensive industry promotion projects and: 3. Establish an environment for developing overseas markets.
By carrying out activities that address those three issues, I am confident we will contribute to healthy development of the overall industry and further expansion of the market.
We are fully committed to bringing about positive results that will help drive the Japanese economy forward.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
