A Message from the Chairman
Five years have passed since the Japanese government unveiled its national policy for the development of intellectual property-related business. This Intellectual Property Strategy listed promotion of the content industry as a major objective. As such, DCAJ has been supporting related projects and events, and plans more for the coming year.
In fiscal year 2007, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry launched two major content projects. The first project was to begin drawing up a government strategy on content-related technologies, which are expected to become a new category in the fiscal 2008 content technology strategy map. The other project was Co-Festa (International Content Festival in Japan), which attracted some 800,000 visitors and served as a major springboard for the content industryfs leap into the future.
DCAJ (Digital Content Association of Japan) was deeply involved in both Ministry projects. We helped draw up the content technology strategy map and hosted ASIAGRAPH, one of the official events at Co-Festa, with positive results.
Today, digital devices for the home are rapidly advancing and diverse digital content created by professionals and amateurs is spreading around the world via the Internet. People everywhere are expecting digital devices and content to become more convenient and further improve their lifestyles. To support healthy growth of the digital content industry and further expand the market, DCAJ believes in pursuing synergies between hardware and content and deploying the results worldwide.
In line with government policy, DCAJ aims to further expand the hardware and content industries by focusing on three objectives: 1. Expand the range and improve the quality of basic information necessary for drawing up strategies: 2. Implement comprehensive industry promotion projects and: 3. Establish an environment for developing overseas markets.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
