Nurturing Talent and Supporting Small Businesses
In 2006, we organized the 21st Digital Content Grand Prix. This event was supported by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) as well as local governments and organizations that contribute to the promotion of the content industry. We plan to host the event again this year to commend organizations and individuals who played large roles in the advancement of the Japanese digital content industry, to encourage further efforts by people in the industry, and to expand business opportunities. In addition, we plan to hold an animation competition with a focus on discovering young creators who will lead the digital content industry into the future. We are also planning events that will help support young people interested in careers in the content industry.

Operation of IT Venture Forum
*Project subsidized by METI
The IT Venture Forum is part of the Industrial Cluster Project by METI supporting the formation of a network of leaders in the content industry in the Greater Tokyo. It thus promotes alliances among major corporations and venture companies.
The content industry is important not only for the profits it generates, but also for disseminating Japanese culture and ways of thinking to the rest of the world.
BEAT Forum was organized by IT Venture Forum to help major firms and venture businesses form alliances.
A job guidance event for students who long to become digital content creators was held to facilitate networking among young people and small businesses.
Networking among Young People and Small Businesses
*Project commissioned by METI
Small and midsized businesses are the main driving force in content production, yet are often unknown to the public despite their capabilities. To help talented young people find jobs at unknown, but promising companies expanding their choices of employers, we provide producer internships and organize the “Kuri Haku” job fair with help from many schools and businesses.
The “Kuri Haku” job fair for would-be creators facilitates networking among young people and small businesses. Here, students gather in the small and midsized business section of the fair to attend presentations by animation production companies.
Producer internships also facilitate networking among young people and small businesses. In this photo, students who completed internships are reporting on their experience.
